The 2022 Cup will be played at Toronto on Sunday 4 December
2021 Summary
CCWGA hosted the 2nd annual NewCoast Cup event on 4 & 5 December 2021. The first round of match play foursomes was held at Magenta Shores GC on Saturday & the singles matches at Shelly Beach GC on Sunday.
Players faced extremely strong winds on Saturday around a very challenging course. Both team Captains were pleased to come away with 3 points each. The foursomes pairings of Jenny Thompson/Patsy Fielding, Jill Blenkey/Holly Ibbotson & Stacie McDonald/Lyn Horswood all secured wins and the crucial 3 points. The teams of Tania Hutchins/Jenny Frost, Jennie Bellamy/Carol Knox & Dom Kelly/Katrina Skinner-Oyston suffered close defeats to have the contest all even at the end of the day.
On Sunday at Shelly Beach, there were 12 more points up for grabs in the very tight contest. Players faced overcast & cool, windy conditions but fortunately the rain stayed away for all the matches.
Jenny Thompson, Holly Ibbotson, Katrina Skinner-Oyston & Dom Kelly secured wins while Jill Blenkey, Jennie Bellamy & Stacie McDonald squared their matches to add a half point each. This left the teams tied on 9 points each at the end of regulation play. This prompted a sudden death playoff between the team's lowest markers--Stacie McDonald (NHDLGA) and Yvonne Boardman (CCWGA). It took just one hole for Stacie to secure the win with her birdie on Shelly Beach's par 5 1st hole to lock in the win for the NHDLGA Team. The NewCoast Cup will return to Newcastle in 2022 which we're sure will be hotly contested.
Congratulations to the team of Jennie Bellamy, Jill Blenkey, Patsy Fielding, Jenny Frost, Tania Hutchins, Lyn Horswood, Holly Ibbotson, Dom Kelly, Carol Knox , Stacie McDonald, Katrina Skinner-Oyston, Jenny Thompson and their caddies for an amazing win.

History:
The NewCoast Cup is a new event on the NHDLGA calendar for 2020. This is an initiative between the NHDLGA & CCWGA (Central Coast Women’s Golf Association) to create an annual top tier competition between the two Districts. The format will be similar to the Solheim Cup/Ryder Cup and will involve 12 players contesting in two sessions: one of Foursomes match play followed by singles match play in the afternoon. A point will be awarded for a match won & a half a point for a match drawn. The team with the most points will be awarded the NewCoast Cup. The event will alternate between the two Districts on a yearly basis with the first match being played at Belmont.
The 2022 County Cup scheduled to be held at Muree on Monday 18 July has been postponed due to course conditions caused by recent weather. The new date is Friday 28 October.

In 2019 NHDLGA and HRDGA met to discuss introducing a modified Country Cup competition between the two Districts. It was decided the event will be held beginning in 2019 with competition sites alternating between the two Districts. The first Country Cup was held in October 2019 at Kurri. The selected format was a 4BBB stableford two-person team event with a team from NHDLGA playing with/against the HRDGA team. Each District entered 17, 2 player teams (34 players) and the aggregate of the Best Ball scores determined the County Cup winner.

History
In 1994, the first year of this event, Robyn Watt from Waratah Golf Club donated the trophy in honour of Beryl Tobin. While the guidelines for this event have changed over the years, the idea of encouraging players on lower handicaps to participate in open stroke events at other clubs , which was instrumental in its introduction, has not. The winner is the player with the highest number of points over a 12 month period. The presentation of the trophy takes place at the Annual General meeting held in November each year.
Beryl Tobin, now a Life Member of the Association, served on the Association Committee for over 30 years, ten of these as President. She has been a member of the Waratah Golf Club since 1945 when her father first nominated her and is now a Life Member of that Club.
Her golf achievements include 8 Holes in One, Club Champion 19 times, Club Foursomes Champion 18 times, Mixed Foursomes Champion 12 times, and she has played Pennants for 50 years.
As a member of Newcastle Golf Club Beryl held the Championship 14 times plus several foursomes and mixed events. She has set numerous course records, won District Championships and Champion of Champions events, State and Country titles, and played exhibition matches at National and International level. She is also Patron of Sugar Valley and Waratah Golf Clubs.
Beryl is still an active member of the Association.
